First Impressions

Out of the box, the V3 feels premium. The 100% recycled 400D nylon canvas shell has a subtle texture that looks professional without being boring. The zippers are smooth, the MagLatch closure is satisfying, and the overall construction screams durability.

At 30L capacity with external dimensions of 20" x 12" x 7.5", it's sized right for a full day's carry without looking oversized. Peak Design also makes a 20L version if you prefer something more compact.

What's New in V3

If you're familiar with the V2, here's what changed:

Recycled materials throughout. The shell is now 100% recycled nylon, the interior lining is recycled, and even the hardware uses recycled aluminum. Peak Design has been pushing sustainability hard, and it shows.

This is Peak Design's signature feature and the thing that makes or breaks the pack for most people. Instead of a traditional top-loading design, the Everyday Backpack opens from both sides via large zip panels.

Why it works: You can access anything in the pack without removing it from your back. Swing it to one side, unzip, grab what you need. It's genuinely faster than top-loading once you get used to it.

The learning curve: It takes about a week to stop reaching for the top of the pack out of habit. The side-access layout also means you need to think about which side you pack things on, since you'll typically access one side more than the other.

After six weeks, I wouldn't go back to top-loading for a daily carry pack. The convenience is real.

That said, the carry system handles weight well. The shoulder straps distribute load evenly, the sternum strap keeps things stable, and the back panel has good airflow. I carried this pack on 8+ hour days without significant discomfort.

The one thing I'd improve: a hip belt option. For heavier loads or longer walks, a hip belt would help transfer weight to your hips. Peak Design sells one separately, which feels like it should be included at this price.
